July 4 celebration for kids in Chattanooga

Join us on July 4th as we celebrate Independence Day. Indoors or outdoors, this is one of the best Fourth of July celebrations for kids in Chattanooga.
Red White and Blue Day gives families a fun way to celebrate the holiday while exploring the historical reason for the holiday. This may be the only place offering patriotic activities meaningful to children and adults in the midst of picnics and outside activities that don't necessarily reference the historical reason for the holiday. All children know about and love birthdays but how many July 4th celebrations actually throw a birthday party for America?
“It is important for children to celebrate holidays with their families,” says Director of Education Jayne Griffin. “So often our July 4 holiday celebrations focus on the way we celebrate, such as barbecue and picnics, rather than the reason we celebrate. Red, White and Blue Day offers a way for parents to convey the meaning of the holiday to children through fun activities that only Creative Discovery Museum can provide.”
Activities include:
  • Free admission to all active duty military families all day (limited to 2 adults and 2 children)
  • 12 - 4 - Patriotic crafts and activities
  • 2:00 - reading of the Declaration of Independence by Thomas Jefferson and Uncle Sam characters, recognition of military, followed by inside child friendly fireworks and a balloon drop
  • 2:30 - (immediately following fireworks) 21 bottle geyser salute to America and Happy Birthday America cake and ice cream on the plaza
