New Years Celebration for Kids in Chattanooga
Noon to 4 p.m.
New Year's Eve is on a Sunday this year. But you don't have to give up Sunday Brunch with the family in order to celebrate with us. We've bumped our New Year's celebration back a couple of hours!
This year, celebrate 2018 at 2:18! Ring in the New Year with Father Time at Creative Discovery Museum’s annual New Year’s celebration, the only local New Year’s party specifically for children during daylight hours.
Children attending the celebration will learn about the passage of time using traditional adult activities presented in a child-friendly manner, such as an apple juice toast and a one-of-a-kind kazoo rendition of the traditional classic “Auld Layne Syne.” As part of the celebration, the Museum will host a countdown with Father Time, complete with a colorful confetti drop at 2:18 for 2018! We'll gather in the Atrium at 1:55 p.m. to start the program, culminating in Father Time's descent down the stairs at 2:18 p.m.
At 3 p.m., Father Time will lead guests in an energetic dance party followed by an extravaganza of indoor “fireworks” by stomping on yards of bubble wrap. Children can also make hats, wands and shakers throughout the event.
“Our New Year's celebration is a great way to celebrate the New Year with kids,” said Jayne Griffin, Director of Education at Creative Discovery Museum. “The event allows children to experience the passage of time and a traditional adult event in a fun, child-friendly setting.”
All activities are included with admission to the Museum.
