Parks Near Creative Discovery Museum

There are many beautiful parks in the downtown Chattanooga area where your family or group can have a picnic lunch. Some of these parks require a reservation and others are first come first served.

The following parks are in close proximity to Creative Discovery Museum.

Aquarium Plaza located at 1 Broad Street- Park area located outside the Tennessee Aquarium in Downtown Chattanooga. Restrooms and drinking fountains are featured in this nice area. No reservation required, first come, first served.

Coolidge Park (5 MINUTES FROM DOWNTOWN) located at 150 River Street - Popular downtown park on Chattanooga's Northshore waterfront. Coolidge Park features a beautifully restored antique carousel, an enclosed pavilion, an interactive play fountain, climbing wall, picnic areas, the Outdoor Chattanooga Center, and lots of open space. It is part of the Tennessee Riverwalk System, a 10 mile long public park along the Tennessee River. Walker Pavilion is open on a first come, first served basis between 12:00 & 1:00, otherwise reservations are required and there is a fee. The antique Carousel at Coolidge Park is $1.00 per ride and tickets can be purchased from the new electronic ticket machine. The machine accepts cash, coins, as well as VISA, Master Card, and Discover. Groups can easily purchase tickets via credit cards.

Renaissance Park (5 MINUTES FROM DOWNTOWN) Located at the intersection of Manufacturers Road and Cherokee Boulevard on the north shore of the river adjacent to Coolidge Park -this 23 acre urban wetlands park has natural trails, picnic area, hilly overlooks, and features that reflect the area's history and ecology. No reservation required, first come, first served.

Riverview Park (5 MINUTES FROM DOWNTOWN) located at 1000 Barton Avenue - Tucked into a 1.5 -acre setting and built in 1939, this park has been revitalized and improved in the last few years to include a covered pavilion, playground, two tennis courts, picnic tables, barbecue grills, and large grassy areas.

Tennessee Riverpark / Fishing Park (10 MINUTES FROM DOWNTOWN) - Tennessee Riverpark stretches from the Chickamauga Dam along Amnicola Highway all the way to downtown Chattanooga. Picnic tables are available in several locations; however a pavilion, playground, and large grassy area are located at the Fishing Park near the C.B. Robinson Bridge. Reservations are required for the pavilion and there is a fee to reserve. To get to the Fishing Park from Creative Discovery Museum take Chestnut Street to Riverfront Drive. Turn right on Riverfront Drive (it will turn into Amnicola Highway). The park entrance will be on the left. It is only about 5 miles from the museum to the park entrance.
