Valentine's Day is fast approaching! CDM wants to spread happiness throughout our community. You can help us Pass It On! Our Pass It On program is not only a great way to spread happiness or send words of encouragement to those in our community, it's an educational opportunity for your family! Pass It On allows children to practice writing letters, drawing pictures, as well as addressing, stamping and mailing an envelope.
Follow along with our step-by-step instructions to help CDM Pass It On this Valentine's Day!
Think of someone who would enjoy hearing from your family. It may be a relative or a friend, but please also consider those who may be especially lonely or need words of encouragement. We've included several options at the end of this document for you to consider.
Click here to download CDM's letter writing template. You can also create your own! Write a note saying how much you appreciate the person or send well wishes. Drawing a picture works very well, also! Write your first name at the end of your message.
Next, address your envelope with the recipient's address. The recipient is the person who will be receiving your letter. The recipient's address goes in the middle of the envelope and follows this format:
Name of the Person or Place Street Address City, State Zip Code
Now, in the top left corner you will add your address which is called the return address.
Place the stamp in the top right corner of the envelope.
Mail your letter! Put the letter in your mailbox with the flag raised so the mail carrier will know to pick it up. You can also take it to the post office and drop it in the mailbox.
Enjoy the feeling of knowing someone will receive your card and be very happy this Valentine's Day!
